The Gut Microbiome Test from Health Beings Diagnostics uses shotgun metagenomic sequencing to analyse microbial DNA in a stool sample, providing information about microbial composition, diversity and predicted functional pathways.
What is included
The report includes 17 significant bacteria, microbiome diversity using the Shannon Index, an intestinal permeability index and other microbiome metrics, alongside 10 gut health axes and 20 gut interaction insights.
At-home sample collection
Activate the kit following the supplied instructions. Use the sterile swab to collect a small stool sample and place it in the tube containing DNA stabiliser. Package and return the sample as instructed. The supplier specification states that a prepaid return envelope is included.
Results
The supplier lists a laboratory turnaround of 3–4 weeks. A PDF report uses Good, Suboptimal and Needs attention ratings.
Important information
This test provides microbiome insights. It cannot independently diagnose IBS, SIBO, inflammatory bowel disease or other medical conditions. Findings should be interpreted alongside symptoms, medical history and appropriate clinical investigations.
